Let me suggest an alternate lens.

- This is a lesson on how economics work. Businesses are not charities. Small or corporate, if they lose money, they close.

- This creates an opportunity for a local entrepreneur (or several) to fill the void.

- Strangers, especially corporations, are not anyone's saviors. They never were and never will be. Victim or entitlement rhetoric ("you promised us...") won't work. Except for charities, no one sustains any activity that doesn't benefit them. There just aren't enough do-gooders and an infinite number of causes. What works is mutual benefit. It's why poverty is vanishing in emerging markets. Not from dropping rice on them, but making them necessary, valuable contributors to the global economy. This is a call to action for the community to make a business case for a new tenant or build its own. Economic power is power, not pretty words.
